Marshfield will unwrap a long-awaited present this holiday season: South Shore Buds, the town’s first adult-use marijuana dispensary.
Final touches are underway on the facility at 985 Plain St., which has undergone a complete overhaul since it was home to Buckles and Boards.
“It came out well, we’re pretty happy,” said owner Ben Virga. “I think it exceeded our expectations.”
Plans on track
Initial inspection by the Cannabis Control Commission has been successfully completed, putting the business on track for potential final licensing at the CCC’s meeting on Thursday, Nov. 18; the agenda for that meeting won’t be announced until two days before.
“We’re very hopeful we’ll be on the agenda,” he said. “Once we’re on the agenda we’ll feel really good about what we’re looking for for an opening date and we can make some firm plans.”
Virga said if all goes well and the dispensary receives its license at that meeting, they can expect a final inspection with product in store, one to two weeks after that. If that final inspection is successful, they can commence operations soon after.
