New Arizona Dispensary Licenses Available Soon – AZmarijuana.com

The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) will be awarding marijuana dispensary licenses known as “social equity licenses” this year. These licenses are set aside for people from communities impacted harshly by the war on drugs.

The ADHS hasn’t defined what communities will qualify for these social equity licenses, ABC 15 reported, the department is drafting rules regarding this issue.

According to the proposed rules, social equity license applicants must have lived in Arizona for at least three of the last five years, and they must meet at least three of the following criteria:

Had a household income in at least three of the last five years that is less than 400% of the federal poverty level. Was convicted of a violation of a federal or state law related to marijuana or marijuana paraphernalia and does not have an excluded felony offense OR is eligible for and has petitioned for expungement of charges relating to the possession of less than 2.5 ounces of cannabis. Has a spouse, surviving spouse, parent, child, sibling, or legal guardian who was convicted of a violation of state
