Health Canada’s New Plan Punishes Patients (Again)

CANNABIS CULTURE- Health Canada has vowed to tighten regulations over industry concerns that medicinal cannabis is being diverted into the unregulated market. The update would see an increase in license refusals and revocations while creating new penalties for patients. 

Patient Choice is a platform that provides a level playing field for Canada’s small medical producers, where patients can access medicinal cannabis products and plants to grow at home. We talked to Joel Taylor, co-founder of Patient Choice on how the increased regulations could affect Canada’s 377,000 medical cannabis patients.

If put in place, the proposed changes will have a negative impact on the medical cannabis industry based on the actions of few. There is a marginal amount of abuse that exist on the system and abuse will happen every time there is a regulation. 

“It is incredibly important for people to be able to grow medicine of any kind and it is difficult to tell a medical cannabis patient to cap their plant cap. Some people are smoking, but many are juicing or creating topicals which requires a higher amount of cannabis,” Joel says.
